Located on the Fairfield Golf Course and close to the banks of Gorton Upper Reservoir located off Kings Road.
During the war, reservoirs were critical infrastructure, and protecting them from enemy sabotage was paramount. The Home Guard were deployed to protect the vital infrastructures, especially reservoirs which would have been subjected to potential biological warfare.
Located as a lone entity, there is no record on when in was built. It appers that the size of the gun turrents, coud have been created to house machine guns?

Bomb Damage and Unanswered Questions:
Manchester's Bomb Damage maps, housed at the University of Manchester, reveal a startling truth: Fairfield Golf Course was hit by three high-explosive bombs on August 31st, 1940. The question arises was the pillbox already standing when these bombs rained down? Or was it a later addition, built in response to the attack?
