The church was founded in 1882 as a Mission Room for the parishioners around the Wardleworth district of Rochdale.

The church and Sunday school was built in 1893-94, and opened on the 4th Febuary 1894 for the first divine worship, the foundation stone was laid in April 1904 and the nave was consectrated on the 19th March 1913. On the 26th January 1997 was the date of the last service as the church was later declared redundant..The building was also used as a gym, martial arts[ Thai boxing and Karate] and boxing, for a number of years...the building became empty around 2018.
