Exploring the Remains of Woodhouse Mill: A Hidden Industrial Relic West of Rochdale
Situated on a hilltop just west of Rochdale, this isolated chimney is all that remains of the historic Woodhouse Mill. Nestled near a small lodge, the chimney once served a vital role in the mill’s operations. My exploration focused on accessing the flue—one of the few surviving features of the site.
Originally constructed in the late 19th century, Woodhouse Mill was a key facility in the textile industry, specializing in dyeing and bleaching processes. Although the main mill buildings stood for over a century, they were completely demolished in 2020, leaving only this towering chimney as a silent witness to the area's industrial past. click here
